While on duty today I had a interesting question asked of me. In the Firehouse today we had a city intern riding along who asked "What makes a good Fireman". At first I thought the question was pretty easy to answer, yet after some thought and trying to make a impression on this young man, I realized there was a lot more to this question then meet the eye ( or ear ). So my question to you is simple. "What makes a good Fireman?"

Listening............and then using and passing on the information to the next guy or gal....... and so on and so on. We all learned from someone on what makes a good fireman.

I think the biggest thing that makes a good fireman is passion. Passion for the job. Without it you are nothing more than a number. A body to fill a seat. If you have passion for the job, everything else comes. You will train, you will spread the word, you will do what is right.
Without passion, you got nothing.
