My department is looking at putting a pre-connected(tank line) 200' with a smooth bore nozzle into service soon. I would like to know what kind of engine pressures other department are using? Thanks

Jonny,
Our Preconnected 2 1/2" line has the breakaway nozzle on it. When I spin the fog off and put the SB on it, we run about 82psi EP for a 1 1/8" tip. Thats 16# per 100' pl;us the 50# NP.
If you spin up to the 1 1/4" tip you will run about 94psi EP.
Let us know when you want to start training with that line. I'll take 3's down south or 7's out west if covering a shift.
Later Bro

Johnny:
Here are the numbers we use in the city. You'll find that most of the numbers you'll see will be within a pound or two of each other. As usual, we use the following formula:
EP=NP+FL+H+/-A (Engine pressure =nozzle pressure + friction loss+ head (elev) +/- appliance)
Engine pressure based on tip size and length of hose (no head, no appliances):
GPM NP TIP 100' 150' 200'
265 50 1 1/8" 70 75 80 325 50 1 1/4" 75 85 95
I'm sure if you wanted to use the Q2 formula, that these numbers would vary a bit.
Drop me a line if you want a copy of our hydraulic chart...
